Barnett finds best fit

Eryon Barnett has kept a close watch on the Texas Longhorns.
The Euless Trinity junior defensive back, who committed to Texas over the weekend, said he wanted to see how the people and coaches were during Junior Days.
"It was a great atmosphere,'' said Barnett (6-2, 187). "For the past couple of years they've had a really good program and put several of their secondary in the NFL, and had back-to-back Jim Thorpe Award winners."
Barnett had received interest from Miami, Oklahoma and Texas A&M, but none of them had made offers yet. Barnett said he doesn't know if he will graduate early, adding that he's "going to try, but if not, it will still be all good."
Barnett also said that Trojans head coach Steve Lineweaver was "very, very happy" about his decision.

Scott update

The headline right now on Orangebloods says it all: "Swing and a miss."

Running back Darrell Scott signed with Colorado, snubbing the University of Texas. Scott, who said before that he doesn't like the cold, said on ESPNU earlier today that "I'll get over it. I'll get used to it." Here's an article for Colorado fans. The top photo is hysterical.

Wow! UT snubbed too

Darrell Scott, the nation's No.1 running back, just announced on TV he's headed to Colorado and not Texas. It's OK, UT fans. You're pretty deep at running back. -Trae Thompson

Scott to announce later

Don't expect Ventura (Calif.) running back Darrell Scott to announce his decision anytime soon. Jon Mack, Scott's former coach at St. Bonaventure High School, said he stays in touch with Scott, the nation's No.1 running back, and that he's narrowed his list to Texas, Colorado and LSU. Mack, now the coach at Ventura Junior College, said that "he won't announce until Signing Day." -Trae Thompson
