Crowley lineman ready for Big 12

Wednesday was a big day for Crowley offensive lineman DeJuan Davis, who signed a letter of intent to play at Oklahoma State during a ceremony at the high school gymnasium. It was also pretty rewarding for Eagles coach Brad McCone. "DeJuan is the kind of kid you get in the business to coach," McCone said. "He works hard every day, makes great grades and is never a problem. He is very explosive off the line of scrimmage and he has great feet. I can say with great confidence that he'll be a great player and he will get a degree." Crowley coaches graded the 6-foot-4, 295-pounder at 94 percent last season with 45 pancake blocks and no sacks allowed. That was enough to earn first-team honors on the Associated Press Class 4A All-State team. Davis was one of nine offensive and defensive linemen signed by Oklahoma State on Wednesday. "I think I'll fit in well there," said Davis, who chose the Cowboys over offers from Baylor and TCU. "I liked the academics and the community. They told me I'll probably play guard. I'm excited." Fellow lineman Trey Taylor also signed a letter of intent with Snow College.

Jones dropped by Cowboys

Just got off the phone with Richland coach Gene Wier, who informed me that linebacker Victor Jones is no longer committed to Oklahoma State.
"They dropped him,'' Wier said. "They dropped all contact."
Saying Wier is upset would be an understatement. Wier said it all began when last season started. Wier said Oklahoma State came to the Rebels' second game, and wanted to reevaluate him. Conversations continued, and Wier said that Cowboys coaches basically told him they didn't think it would be in Jones' best interests to come to Stillwater.
Jones has visits set up to SMU, Utah State and Colorado State. Wier said he believes Utah State and Colorado State have made Jones offers. -Trae Thompson
