Foster picks Tigers

North Crowley defensive tackle Marvin Foster (6-1, 260) committed to Missouri.
"Missouri was his first offer," Panthers coach Mike Papas said. "It was up on the top of his list. We felt like it was a real strong offer. I talked to Marvin; A lot of time kids hold out for something better. I told him if you hold out, make sure there's something better out there. You're talking about a team that played for the Big 12 championship last year, so there's not a lot. He felt comfortable and we're real excited about it."
Foster comes from a football family. His father, Marvin Foster Sr., played at TCU. His older brother Marquay Love graduated from Crowley High School, then later played at Houston and is now a center for the New Orleans Saints.
"I like to tell recruiters he's got a good pedigree,'' Papas said.
Foster was named District 4-5A Sophomore of the Year, and was then a first-team all-district selection as a junior last season.
"He's one of our good ones, our real good ones,'' Papas said. -Trae Thompson

Long jumper signs with Kansas

North Crowley senior Jamaica Collins signed with Kansas on Wednesday, accepting a full track scholarship. Collins, one of the state's top long jumpers, signed at a ceremony in the school library, as did distance runner Megan Williams, who will compete for Vanguard University in California.
"Jamaica was grinning from ear to ear," said North Crowley coach Donna Banks. "This was awesome. This is the first time I've been part of a signing day here. Normally, our girls don't sign until later."
Banks said two other North Crowley track athletes are still making college visits.
