Pryor sweepstakes
The nation's top player won't announce until Signing Day, but there appears to be four legitimate contenders for quarterback Terrelle Pryor (pictured). Tom Luginbill, national recruiting director for ESPN Scouts Inc., recently broke down each team during a national conference call:
*Ohio State - The odds on favorite early on, but the picture has become muddied. Basketball is where the Buckeyes have a leg up, since Pryor still wants to play hoops.
* LSU - The Tigers came in late, but they bring national title clout. Offensive coordinator Gary Crowton is very innovative, and their offense involves some spread elements that fit Pryor's talents and what he hopes to accomplish.
*Oregon - This would be an ideal marriage, but the only issue is proximity (Pryor is from Jeannette, Pa.). From a scheme standpoint, the Ducks are made for Pryor, who's a mirror image of Dennis Dixon.
*Michigan - The Wolverines are somewhat in the lead. With new coach Rich Rodriguez, and a new spread offense being installed, this gives Pryor an opportunity to start running a scheme he knows.
