Bo Levi switches to Mustangs

New SMU coach June Jones isn't wasting time.
Katy quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell (6-1, 185), who originally committed to Hawaii, has switched to the Mustangs, according to Katy coach Gary Joseph.
Joseph said Mitchell took his visit to SMU this weekend, and said Jones' offense was one of the big factors in his decision. "He's a kid that will work very hard,'' Joseph said. "They're getting a kid that will be a great leader for them. Bo is a kid who has a live arm. He threw 37 touchdowns and four interceptions this year. He does a good job with play action. The big thing is he has good leadership ability. He doesn't get rattled easy. One of the things for a program like SMU that's coming back is they're getting a quarterback who's 29-1. He knows how to win."
Joseph said a year spent learning Jones' offense and sitting behind returner Justin Willis will benefit Mitchell.
"The speed is going to be different in college football. It's like moving from sub-varsity to varsity football,'' Joseph said. "I think his upside is good. He needs to hit the weight room, see college coverages and sit back and learn for a year."
