Sometimes it pays to be lucky. On the finale night of Mountain Creek Speedways Annual Race on Dirt, the $1,000 to win IMCA Modified 25-lap feature got very interesting. Blain Shives, No. 777, took the early lead and appeared to be well on his way to victory. But with one lap to go, G.W. Egbert, No. 717, went for the win and Shives got spun out. Egbert was black flagged and Shives went to the pit opening the door for Kevin Sustaire, No. 71k, to take the point and the win. Tommy Williams, No. 151, ended up second, NASCAR's Kenny Schrader, No. 9k, was third, Oklahoma's William Gould, No. 60, was fourth and Rusty Trevathan Jr., No. 51, was fifth. Sixteen Modifieds started the feature.
