DALLAS -- Tyson Chandler could be returning to the Dallas Mavericks.
According to ESPN, the Mavs are close to acquiring Chandler and point guard Raymond Felton from the New York Knicks for Jose Calderon, Samuel Dalembert, Shane Larkin, Wayne Ellington and a second-round draft pick.
Chandler was the starting center and a huge defensive presence in the middle when the Mavs captured the 2011 NBA title. But after the 2010-'11 season the Mavs refused to meet Chandler's free agent demands and he wound up signing a four-year, $60 million contract with the Knicks.
In 55 games for the Knicks this oast seaosn, Chandler averaged 8.7 points and 9.6 rebounds per game. The 12-year veteran is slated to earn $14,596,888 next season and wil become an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2015.
Felton, meanwhile, will collect $4.36 million next season and has a player option that will pay him $4.54 million in the 2015-'16 season. Felton, who will turn 30 on Thursday, averaged 9.7 points and 5.6 assists per game this past season for the Knicks.
