Von Wafer went through a workout for the Mavericks on Friday but management wasn't divulging any news about the workout.
There may have been other players going through the drills, but Wafer, the former Rocket, was the only one whose identity was known for sure.
The Mavericks have two needs going forward: a short-term center while Erick Dampier recovers from finger surgery and a guard who can handle the ball but also shoot it.
They also are waiting to see what players get bought out or waived in the aftermath of the trade deadline.

I'm a Mav fan stuck in H-town. Last year, von wafer carried the Rockets with his shooting. He reminded me of Vinie Johnson from the Detroit during the "Bad Boy" days. I really thought he was one of the better Rocket guards and was shocked when no one picked him up during the offseason. I think he would be a great, cheap addition to the Mavericks. He could come off the bench and hit some big 3's. I hope the sign him.

Wafer is a great player, and a STEAL for whoever gets him!
