Southlake’s Lowe named state's top runner

Already a UIL State champion and Foot Locker All-American, Colby Lowe of Southlake can now add Texas boys cross country athlete of the year to his awards shelf.
Lowe earned Gatorade’s state runner of the year honors for his senior season, which included his second straight UIL title in 5A cross country. In December, Lowe earned Foot Locker all-American honors by placing fourth at the national cross country championships. He also finished second at the Nike Team Nationals in December.
The outgoing senior has verbally committed to Oklahoma State.
Gatorade will announce the national boys cross country winner on Jan. 14. More information can be found at www.gatorade.com/playeroftheyear.

Two Southlake runners qualify for championship

Southlake Carrol's Colby Lowe and C.J. Brown qualified for the Foot Locker Cross Country Championship on Dec. 8 in San Diego.
The two Southlake runners, along with Chelsea Sveinsson  of the Greenhill School of Dallas, qualified at the South Regionals on Nov. 24.
Lowe should be one of the top contenders in the field, which brings in runners from across the nation. The senior at Southlake won the past two boys 5A cross country titles, finishing this year in 15:11. Brown took third at state the past two seasons.
