Arlington's Perez overcomes stomach flu to beat Bowie

Liz Perez hit a two-out, three-run triple in Arlington’s six-run fourth inning to help the Lady Colts defeat Arlington Bowie 10-4 on Friday at Workman Field. Perez (3-1) was so sick that head coach Tommy Edmondson was afraid she might throw up on the mound. However, she persevered to strikeout six in 4 1/3 innings for the Lady Colts (6-9, 3-1 in District 8-5A). Bowie (6-3-1) dropped to 3-1 in district after it couldn’t capture a win against the team that handed them its only two district loses a year ago. Victoria Veyna fell to 3-1 after four innings of work one start after her first no-hitter on Tuesday in a 15-0 win over Sam Houston.
