Texas first baseman Chris Davis heard the rumors that he had a problem connecting with former hitting coach Rudy Jaramillo. That news came as a surprise to Davis, who said he will miss Jaramillo.
"Rudy and I got along great," Davis said. "I almost feel bad for what I put him through the first half. We were trying every day to figure something out and it was never a lack of effort on his part or my part. It would have taken a small miracle for me to find it at that point because I was so lost. The information he was giving me was the right information. I just wasn't able to take it and run with it."
Davis also heard that he wasn't prepared heading into the 2009 season, but he doesn't believe that was the case either. One thing he's doing differently this year is hitting more. He took a break before the 2009 season, and he thinks that contributed to his slow start. He starting swinging the bat in preparation for 2010 on Monday.
"I'm going to have to be one of those guys that has to swing the bat year round and I'm okay doing that," he said. "It's not physically demanding on my body and it's something that I think will pay off."
