Andruw Jones has homered in his first three at-bats -- a two-run shot in the first and solo shots in the third and fifth -- as the Rangers have taken a 8-1 lead in the fifth.
It is Jones second career three-homer game and 36th multi-homer game. The Rangers haven't had a player hit three homers in a game since July 3, 2007, when Brad Wilkerson did it in Arlington against the Angels. It's the 15th time a player has hit three homers in a game in Rangers history, the fourth on the road, the second since 1980 and the first since Mark Teixeira hit three at Baltimore on July 13, 2006.
Marlon Byrd just followed with a two-run shot to give the Rangers five homers. Taylor Teagarden hit a solo shot, his first, in the fourth.
Angels starter Ervin Santana was yanked to start the fifth, and Jones and Byrd hit two-out shots off Rich Thompson. Vicente Padilla has allowed six hits in four innings to an Angels lineup that is without Torii Hunter and Vladimir Guerrero.
