Injury slows Diamond

Former first-round pick Thomas Diamond is headed to the disabled list at Triple-A Oklahoma City with a strained right shoulder. Lefty A.J. Murray, who is being converted back into a reliever after suffering a rotator-cuff injury last season, will replace Diamond on the RedHawks' roster.

Diamond missed all of 2007 after undergoing Tommy John surgery to replace a ligament in his elbow. He pitched at Double-A Frisco last year before injuring his ankle. He lost some 20 pounds over the off-season and was back in big-league camp during spring training. But he was among the first players assigned to the minor leagues. He has made appearances in relief and as a starter so far this season.
