Josh Rupe clears waivers

Right-hander Josh Rupe, who was designated for assignment April 18 and replaced on the 25-man roster by Derek Holland, has cleared waivers and been outrighted to the minor leagues. The Rangers plan to send him to extended spring training in Surprise, Ariz., to get his arm stretched out so that he can become a starter for Triple-A Oklahoma City. Rupe has been a starter before, and returning to a starting role has been his goal.

I always thought Rupe would turn out better than he has, but adding Holland, with what he has shown so far, looks like a great move. Being able to work 3 innings at a time will save our set up men from over-work, and Holland may just work himself into the rotation if he keeps throwing strikes . His stuff is way above average, especially for a left hander, and his control is phenomenal.
