Minor-league outfielder Nelson Cruz is headed to the disabled list after suffering a strained quadriceps muscle Friday in a game for Triple-A Oklahoma, general manager Jon Daniels said.
The injury will be examined Monday by Dr. Keith Meister, said Daniels, and Cruz will head to the Rangers' spring-training home in Surprise, Ariz., to rehab an injury that will likely keep him out of action for longer than a week.
Cruz is destroying the Pacific Coast League with 37 homers, 98 RBI and a .344 average.
