Right-hander Doug Mathis was placed on the 15-day disabled list with shoulder inflammation, and right-hander Luis Mendoza is expected to arrive from Oklahoma City in time for Friday's game.
Mathis complained of the injury Thursday after a bullpen session and experienced the same discomfort after throwing again Friday. He hadn't pitched since Sunday against the Mets.
