Michael Young extended his hitting streak to 16 games with a first inning bloop triple to right. He scored on an grounder by Josh Hamilton. It was Hamilton's 59th RBI of the season.

Rangers right-hander Jason Jennings had surgery on his right flexor tendon Friday and is out for the season. It's the second time in less than a year that Jennings has had the same surgery. Jennings, a free-agent signee in the off-season, was 0-5 for the Rangers. He went on the disabled list May 2 with a strained right elbow.

Michael Young wasted no time in extending his hitting streak to 15 Friday night. He singled to left in the first inning.

Milton Bradley has been scratched from the starting lineup tonight because of lightheadedness. Bradley will be available to pinch hit. Brandon Boggs is now in the starting lineup and Josh Hamilton is the new cleanup hitter.

Rangers infielder Hank Blalock underwent surgery on his right wrist this morning to relieve the pain caused by carpal tunnel syndrome. Blalock will be out three to four weeks. Blalock originally went on the disabled list April 26 with a torn left hamstring. After that healed, he was set to to return to the lineup as a first baseman last Friday in Cleveland. That's when he let the team know he was having problems with the wrist. The Rangers tried medication and a cortisone shot before deciding on the surgery.

The Rangers have optioned struggling starter Kason Gabbard to Oklahoma and Doug Mathis will take his spot in the rotation. Robinson Tejeda was called up to replace Gabbard and he will work out of the bullpen. - Anthony Andro

The Rangers made a pair of moves official today. German Duran has been optioned to Triple A Oklahoma and Travis Metcalf has been called up to take his spot. The Rangers have also sent Kameron Loe to Triple A. That move was necessary because the Rangers activated Kevin Millwood, who will start Friday. Franklyn German has also been outrighted to Oklahoma. He has 72 hours to accept the outright or become a free agent.

Rangers outfielder David Murphy will receive his April rookie of the month award before Friday's game against Oakland. Murphy is having even a better May than June. Beginning June 3, fans can vote for Murphy in his bid to repeat at www.mlb.com/gillette .
