Neal once again
I've been watching this one all night and should've been on here sooner, but I got a little more wrapped up in the game than I originally thought I would be.
Let's throw James Neal's name in for early consideration for the Calder Memorial Trophy, shall we? Another fabulous night for the kid, whether he's setting up Mike Modano's goal or scoring the shootout winner. I believe that's his first ever attempt at the shootout with the Stars, but I don't know that for sure. Either way, great poise from the kid once again. Steve Ott gave him the nasty glove to the face to "congratulate" him.
This was some fabulous stuff if you like great goaltending. Marty Turco was great after those first two, and not sure how much you hang him out on those: 28 saves on 30, and pretty salty in the shootout, too. Great recovery from him after the rough night for everyone in Edmonton. Mike Ribeiro's probably going to see that Jason LaBarbera stop on him in his sleep. Although way too much fancy-schmancy on his shootout attempt. Granted, considering how good he is otherwise on the shootout, hard to knock him.
The Stars haven't won many Part 2s of these back to backs, but this was a good one for them.
Now, the Stars' travel issues: They didn't get into Vancouver until this morning (deep freeze in Edmonton and plane issues on Saturday night), and they won't fly back to Dallas until tomorrow because of snow up in Vancouver. So the Stars won't be practicing tomorrow and will then turn around and play in Detroit on Thursday.
