My oh my
Wow, where to start with this one. A total mess, and that is one aggravated, frustrated group right now. The woes of training camp are just spilling over, and it is producing some ugly, ugly hockey. Anyway, some items:
**The official scoresheet has Sean Avery for two 10-minute game misconducts while his foe, Dan Hamhuis, had one. Don't know if that's a misprint, or if something else specific happened that caused another one, or what that could mean in the days to come. In 2007 the NHL stated that accumulated game misconducts could lead to fines or suspensions. So we'll see.
**Trevor Daley is the leading goal-scorer. Let's think about this for a second. First, kudos to Daley for doing something. But where is everyone else? Where are the skill guys?
**Coach Dave Tippett brought up the names Jere Lehtinen and Fabian Brunnstrom; as in, it may be time for these two to get into the lineup. Message to players: You've had your chance, you're doing nothing, have a seat.
**The tsk-tsk's abound. Mike Ribeiro has been MIA. Loui Eriksson has done nothing. Insert name here has been bad, too.
**I'm barely going to talk about the power play because there is no power play of which to speak. Ick, ick, ick. One of 12 now? Something like that? OK, I've already wasted too many words on it.
So we'll head home, kids, and see if the Stars can actually play something like they did last spring.

My oh my. That was boring and ugly. I'll be glad to see Jere and Fabian in the lineup.

That was a depressing game to watch. What's with the lack of hands and legs? I know we had a long run last year, but it's only game two of the season! Can't be too worn out already...

Exactly like the 3rd round last season. Slow and lazy.

Oh Mickey Ribs... Maybe someone commented on his clothes so he decided not to play.

The only thing I'm at all excited about is that Daley seems to be stepping into a more offensive role. He's always been touted as having a scoring upside, but has never really shown it on the Stars. This, coupled with his generally marginal defensive prowess, has left him low man on my personal favorite Stars hierarchy since pretty much his rookie year. Nice to see he may actually change my mind this season.
That said, the team as a whole has given me very little to cheer for thus far. I do have faith that this team will do great things this season, but I sure would like to see some early validation.
