Zubov setback

The news doesn't sound too good on defenseman Sergei Zubov. He didn't skate today, as he went to see specialists for his ongoing injuries. And won't skate for the next few days. Coach Dave Tippett called the situation "a concern." When asked if the problem was the foot or the groin, Tippett said, "all of the above."

That can't be good.

So if Zubov can't even skate until this weekend at the earliest (and that's me just guessing here, nothing else), could he be ready for the first game or two of the playoffs? Definitely not the best news for the Stars at the moment.

Well great. Now the question could be, does he come back as soon as possible and risk his health for the playoffs or just sit out the rest of the year and fully heal?

After all these setbacks (hernia, groin, foot, groin), it may be more important for him to think about next year. I hate to say that and I hope it isn't that dire, but at this point, I don't trust his body!

The young D men could be facing a harsh reality here in about a week by being "thrown in the fire." Richards is still trying to gel. Zubie can't get back. The writing may be on the wall, even though the fan in me will still hope for some kind of playoff miracle.
