Two rookies should return Wednesday

Wade Phillips said he expects rookies Akwasi Owusu-Ansah and Sean Lee to return to practice Wednesday. That goes with what both players have been saying.

Owusu-Ansah, a safety, has not practiced since the Cowboys drafted him in the fourth round. He had off-season shoulder surgery and tweaked a hamstring while conditioning.

Lee last practiced July 25. He tweaked his quadriceps in the second practice that day and has been rehabbing since.

Phillips said Lee is more likely to play in Sunday's game against Cincinnati because he was in the off-season OTAs and minicamps. The Cowboys expect him to play in their subpackages this season, replacing Bobby Carpenter.

Veteran safety Pat Watkins (knee) said he will not return to practice until the team returns to Arlington for practice Aug. 10.
