Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo initially tried to dismiss the team's struggles in the red zone Sunday night against the Bengals.
But in the end, he said the bottom line is the bottom line and the Cowboys need to find ways to score when they get down close.
"We don't want to use some of the stuff we have been using, so we were kind of vanilla," Romo said. "At the same point we need to get the ball in. That's important. We are going to work on that again this week."
It's frustrating for the Cowboys to not have success in the red zone to start out, considering its been a primary focus since last season when they finished 14th in the league in red zone touchdown percentage.
Romo said they have added some things to the attack that will have them perform better down close this year. Still, he says they should gotten the job done against the Bengals.
After getting a first and goal at the three yard line, Romo had three straight incompletions, two to Roy
Williams and one to Felix Jones.
"We will do things differently in the red zone," Romo said. "We have a few things that we have worked on that will give us the benefit. We will see. We still have to find away to get it in. We have to execute. I had to throw a couple away down there and that's part of it."
