After last year's disappointing season, wide receiver Roy Williams already had sufficient motivation to get his act together in 2010. And that was before the team drafted wide receiver Dez Bryant in the first round of the NFL Draft.
Williams has said he is not going to lose his starting job and took a step in the right direction with a strong effort during the OTA workouts on Monday.
Williams made a tough catch on the sideline and then walked by owner Jerry Jones and said "I'm back."
Later in the practice he made a one-handed circus catch for a touchdown and Jones got into the act, yelling at the assembled media, "Did y'all see that?"
"Our players have a lot of pride, especially Roy," coach Wade Phillips said. "I thought Roy looked good. He made a great play on the deep ball."
Of course, Bryant didn't disappoint, making several outstanding catches himself. He even beat Pro Bowl cornerback Terence Newman and defensive back Mike Jenkins for touchdowns.
Williams came away impressed, saying Bryant is "making plays and he doesn't even know what he is doing yet."
"It's competition," Williams said. "It's going to make us all better."
* With Marcus Spears out of practice, Jason Hatcher worked with the first team at defensive end.
* Rookie linebacker Sean Lee worked with the first team at inside linebacker alongside Bradie James in place of the injured Keith Brooking, who won't be ready until training camp after off-season knee surgery.

Roy Williams problem isn't motivation nor is it athletic ability. Every year he's been here we've been treated with stories on how he has a new lease on football life, extra work with Romo, doing the right things, blah blah blah. Roy's problem is simple, he can't read a defense. This is why Tony's passes frequently hit the turf when throwing Roy's way and not other recievers. It's why when they show Tony right after another missed throw to Roy you can read Tony's lips saying things he shouldn't. It's why Roy looks good in practice because he doesn't have to read a quick changing defense. Roy can't read defenses, there is no fix.

Ha ha, good for you posting a response to the haters, Clarence.
I believe our receiving corp will shake out as Austin, Bryant, and Williams as 1,2,3 receivers. Crayton, Ogletree, and Hurd will rotate in on packages and as number 4 receiver.

I hope that Bryant being on the team gets Williams motivated for next year. Its nice to hear that they are doing well, however it's OTA's and everybody looks good. I hope that they carry this into training camp and then into the season. If we could have Williams, Austin, Bryant, Witten, Jones, Choice going this could be a great offense. I would love to see Ogletree and Bennett get some chances as well.
