OSU looking at Cowboys LB coach
Wade Phillips could be losing one of his assistants on defense. Oklahoma State is interested in Dallas Cowboys linebackers coach Reggie Herring as it new defensive coordinator, according to a source. One OSU web site, Gopokes.com, is reporting that Herring has already accepted the position.
Herring just completed is first year in Dallas and if he leaves it would be a reflection of how shaky job security is in Dallas. Herring began his coaching career at OSU, working first as a grad assistant under Jimmy Johnson. He was on staff at OSU from 1981-1985, one year before current head coach Mike Gundy joined the program as a freshman quarterback.
Herring has been a defensive coordinator at TCU, Clemson, N.C. State and Arkansas. He was hired as the Aggies' DC in 2008 but took the Cowboys job a month later.
