Irvin to NFL Network

There is a report out by USA Today stating that former Cowboys receiver Michael Irvin is going to take a very part-time gig with the NFL Network. Irvin had been an analyst with ESPN as late as 2007 until the two parted ways. Now Irvin has taken his mouth to the local airwaves hosting a radio show on ESPN 103.3 FM.

The plan, according to the report, is to use Irvin for the Aug. 2 coverage of the Hall of Fame induction festivities.

This could very well be a glorified audition for Irvin. Irvin's good buddy is Deion Sanders, who works for the network as well.

And, just a guess, the money is just a bit better over on the TV side of things, too.

I enjoyed Michael more than any of the other analysts. His commentary was no-holds-barred and spot on. I don't know what politics were played for the two sides to part ways, but they haven't found anyone who is nearly as talented to replace him. On the other hand, his talk show in DFW is the best I've ever heard and, thanks to the miracle of the podcast, I never have to miss an episode. If you don't believe it, just listen to it a few times, and you'll be a convert.
