TCU recruit ineligible

Recruit Michael Venson has failed to get academic clearance from the NCAA and will not be on the team, Gary Patterson said Saturday.
“For academic purposes Venson will not be at TCU,” he said.
Patterson said the final recruit to possibly join the team, RB Dwight Smith, from Carthage, “is still in progress.”
Smith, who was the Class 3A Player of the Year last season, will most likely not be cleared before school starts Aug. 24.
