Although Texas Tech coach Mike Leach has yet to sign his three-year contract extension, Red Raider athletic director Gerald Myers is working on the premise that Leach isn't leaving Lubbock.
"He's going to be back,'' Myers said on Monday. "It's just a matter of getting (contract negotiations) done.
"I expect to hear something from them, but I haven't. I guess they're working on something.'''
Leach has two years remaining on a five-year contract he signed three years ago. The Raiders have offered to extend that contract by three years, bringing the proposal to a five-year, $12.1 million deal.
After Tech's regular season ended, Leach visited the University of Washington to check out the school's vacant head coaching postiion. He later removed his name from consideration for the UW job.
Leach, 76-38 in nine years with the Raiders, also is in the process of preparing Tech for the Jan. 2 Cotton Bowl against Mississippi.
