Not that he has anything against Oklahoma, but former Heisman Trophy winner Roger Staubach is hoping Texas Tech is able to win Saturday's Big 12 shootout against Oklahoma.
The game starts at 7 p.m. in Norman, Okla., where the Sooners are 59-2 under coach Bob Stoops over the past 10 years. But Staubach believes the 10-0 Red Raiders have the necessary tools to go into Norman and emerge victorious.
"I would like to see Tech pull it off,'' Staubach said Wednesday afternoon. "I think going up to Oklahoma, if they pull it off, it'll be a great testament to what they've done this year, but Oklahoma is tough up there.''
Tech actually has won two of its last three games against the Sooners, but both of those wins were in Lubbock. Staubach, however, has seen and heard enough about the Red Raiders that he thinks this is their year to finally capture their first Big 12 South title.
"I still feel there's something about Tech this year that's special,'' Staubach said. "I sure wouldn't want to put any money on this game.
"Oklahoma, I'm sure, is going to be favored. But I'd like to see Tech upset them, though. But I have nothing against Oklahoma, by the way.''
