A look back at the triple play
The momentum definitely shifted when TCU turned a triple play in the top of the eighth inning on Sunday against UNLV. The Horned Frogs went on to win 3-2 in 10 innings.
"The triple play was big,'' Horned Frogs coach Jim Schlossnagle said. "I was thinking in the ninth inning, 'How many times do you get a triple play and lose?' It doesn't happen very often. From (UNLV's) end it's hard to overcome."
With runners on first and second, TCU reliever Trent Appleby started things off when he caught a bunt that was popped up by Braden Walker.
"I was looking to get the play at third,'' Appleby explained. "I caught it and (catcher Bryan) Holaday had to yell too. I looked up and threw to second and figured I just got a double play, and looked up to see (shortstop Bryan) Kervin chasing the guy. It was pretty good. It helped me out a lot."
