Cards switch

UTA's chased Sisk, and Jay Prigmore is in to relieve. The Mavs are still batting with no outs, the bases and an 8-3 lead. -Trae

Tightening up

The Cardinals have got a rally going. Lamar's scored on Tyler Link's solo home run. Brian Taylor busted his bat on a double to left. Two more runs scored on a bloop single to left by Brent Harris. It's 5-3. UTA's up to bat. -Trae

Memory lane

Foster While I'm sitting here watching Lamar hit, I remember doing a story a long time ago about former Nolan Catholic slugger Jordan Foster. Foster put up amazing numbers for the Vikings (and against some bigtime public schools), but the story was about how no college was after him. Art Senato - then coach of the Vikings - said whatever school gets him would get a steal.
Well, Foster ended up at Lamar, and I'd say he did OK - In 2003, he had a .417 average with 96 hits and 71 RBIs. Even crazier - He had 18 strikeouts in 230 at-bats. The following year, Foster hit .363 with 78 hits. He was drafted by Detroit, but ended up with the Fort Worth Cats. -Trae Thompson

Got nothin

Lamar singled to open the first, but left two runners on base. Now time for UTA to do something. -Trae

Another switch

Morgal is gone for Lamar. Ricky Testa is in to relieve in the sixth. -Trae

I'm paying attention

OK, Lamar coach Jim Gilligan just came to the mound. UTA's loaded the bases here in the fifth. What follows? A little music. Wanna guess what? -Trae

Six spot

The top of the fourth is finally over. Lamar put up six runs, and now leads UTA 10-1. -Trae

Local flavor

The Cardinals' roster is comprised mostly of Texans, but there are two former area players on the roster. One is starting first baseman Steven Tucker, a Grace Prep graduate, and outfielder Brock Martin, who played at Grapevine. -Trae

Cardinals tack on three

Lamar has a 4-1 lead in the third over UTA. This Cardinals bunch is quite aggressive. -Trae
