In or out? The debate is on

Big12logo  Several Big 12 coaches were asked today about the quality of the league, and whether the six teams with below .500 conference records will limit the amount of teams that get into the NCAA tournament.
"I certainly hope not," Nebraska coach Mike Anderson said. "I think we're a strong conference. Whether they're below .500 is not for me to categorize, but that's what the numbers may say. If you look at the SEC, some teams didn't make the tournament, but still found ways to get in. I think it's a strong conference. K State just beat the No.5 team in the country. We're doing good things in this conference."
Baylor coach Steve Smith said RPIs and conference finishes will be key factors.
"I dont think that's a dealbreaker,'' he said. "The only dealbreaker the committee has shared is to be below .500 overall."
Prediction here - Five teams get in. -Trae Thompson

It's just a guess at this point, but here's a breakdown of the Big 12 standings, and the teams' chances of making the NCAA Tournament -

Oklahoma State (29-11, 11-7) - 6 - Cowboys could also be battling for a possible super regional.

Baylor player hits 3 home runs in rout

WACO -- Aaron Miller was 5-for-5 with three home runs, a double and six RBI, and No. 13 Baylor made use of a 10-run second en route to 20-6 victory over Illinois in first-day action at the third-annual QTI Baylor Classic. The game was called with one out in the ninth as heavy rains blanketed the field. Baylor (5-0) has won nine straight home games, dating to last season. In the first game of the day, Illinois-Chicago defeated Stephen F. Austin 9-3.

Miller became the fourth player in Baylor history to hit three home runs in a game and the first to accomplish the feat since the NCAA implemented bat weight-ratio restrictions in 1999. He joins Eric Topolski (1998 vs. Hardin Simmons; 1998 vs. Missouri), Charley Carter (1998 vs. UTSA) and Eric Nelson (1999 at Kansas) on that elite list. Miller joined current Major Leaguer Ben Broussard as the only players with three home runs at Baylor Ballpark; Broussard accomplished the feat against Baylor while at McNeese State in 1999. Miller's three home-run performance also tied a Big 12 Conference record.
